Many journals ask authors to check the English prior to submission. Journals often send manuscripts with minor errors back to the authors. Comprehensive English-language editing can help avoid this problem. In all editing and writing projects, we follow a 10-point list to help ensure the manuscript is in tip-top shape and ready for submission. Language editing services start at a competitive fee of NZ$100 per 1000 words.

Our 10-point editing checklist

  • We provide a comprehensive check of the English language used throughout the provided materials, including all text, including consistency of spelling

  • Is the title page complete? Does it include the necessary information?

  • Is it’s length appropriate? Is it formatted/structured correctly, with relevant subheadings if needed?

  • Is the text ordered correctly and complete? Is it’s length appropriate for the article/study type and journal instructions? Are headings and subheadings used appropriately and consistently?

  • Does the end matter include all essential items, including disclosures/conflicts of interest, author contributions, funding statements, data availability statements, and any other statements applicable to article/study type or journal instructions?

  • Is the reference list complete? Are references ordered correctly? Are references formatted consistently and correctly?

  • Is the language correct? Are all abbreviations defined in footnotes? Are the tables/figures legible? Are the display items cited in the text?

  • Are abbreviations used consistently and correctly? Are there any undefined abbreviations? Are there any commonly used terms that could be abbreviated?

  • Is the language correct? Are all parts of the supplementary materials cited in the text?

  • Does the manuscript adhere to the instructions for authors? Are any requirements missing?

If you have the funds now but your manuscripts aren’t ready for editing, we offer pre-purchase credits that can be saved for up to 3 years after the date of purchase. This offers flexibility for pre-ordering services to cover your future needs..

Our guarantee

We guarantee that the edited manuscript will not be returned by journals due to language issues. We will re-edit, for free, the previously edited text if the journal rejects a manuscript solely for language issues.
